Excitement for the 2014 World Cup starts to build as draw has been made

Results from the World Cup 2014 draw

As an Atleti fan, it would be foolish not to live in the here and now, considering that, you know, we’re top of the league and all.

But, still, we couldn’t help but get excited ahead of the 2014 World Cup after the draw for the tournament was performed in Bahia on Friday afternoon.

My Oranje take on Spain on the first match day of Group B in what will be a repeat of the 2010 final. The game might be extra special for Colchoneros knowing that Juanfran, Mario, Koke, David Villa and Diego Costa are all in contention for a spot in Vicente del Bosque’s line-up.

Thibaut Courtois and Toby Alderweireld will be satisfied with the draw, as they should be able to help outsiders Belgium advance past a group which includes Russia, South Korea and Algeria.

Elsewhere, Diego Godín, José María Giménez and Cristian Rodríguez face a tougher challenge as they’ll take on England, Costa Rica and 2006 winners Italy.

If we’re lucky, we might also see Josuha Guilavogui and Sílvio in action for France and Portugal, respectively, but what we’d really like to see is for João Miranda and Filipe Luís to represent the Seleçao in their country’s quest to win a sixth World Cup on home soil.

Which Atleti players do you think will be present at the tournament this summer and who will do best?

The Spaniards are facing a very tough competition in all positions
Giménez and Guilavogui are still young and not good enough for big teams like Uruguay and France, beside they are not playing too much minutes with Atleti, just like the next two :
Cebolla and Toby, and they will stay that way unless they transferred in January, but I believe they still will make it to Brasil, but probably will not be starters
And no matter how good Filipe and Miranda are .. Scolari just don’t like them

So, I believe that the only two who secured their places with their national teams and the only two who for sure will play the whole 90 games every game are Courtois & Godin

and knowing that there are many good defenders who will be in Brasil 2014, I guess Courtois will be the Atleti player who has the most notable tournament

IF he will still an Atleti player at that time .. we all wish he is

beside that between the 3 teams who will have most of (or all) Atleti players :
Spain, Uruguay and Belgium .. the last one had a very good draw and can go too far in the competition ..
while Uruguay will have to work very very hard just to make it to the second round
and Netherlands could put Spain in front of Brasil in the round of 16
