Atlético B have lost the first match of the season. Our second team couldn’t overcome Getafe B and slumped to a 1-0 defeat in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez Muñoz.
Coach Antonio Rivas saw himself forced to use all of his substitutions at half time, after a dreadful first half. The home team had taken the lead after just six minutes when forward Adrián headed in the opening goal at the far post.
Adrián almost doubled the lead after 25 minutes, but Iago stopped it with a great reflex.
Atlético barely created any danger at the other end. Only Alberto Perea, the new star of this team, threatened Getafe’s goalie.
In the second half, after Antonio Rivas had changed three of his four midfielders, Atlético looked much more dangerous going forward. Abel and Sergio Marcos came close to scoring, but found the goalkeeper on their way. And in the dying minutes Saúl Ñíguez and again Abel wasted Atlético B’s final opportunities.
Line–up: Iago; César Ortíz, Iván Benítez, Atienza, Javi Cantero; Jiménez, Sergio Marcos, Mínguez, Perea; Saúl and Abel.
Subs: Fer (“46), Hermosa (“46) and Miramón (“46)
Goals: 1-0, Adrián.
Atlético C also lost their first league match in a 1-0 loss away to Inter de Madrid.
Antonio Rivas said before the match that Atlético B needs some time to gel together, which became quite obvious in the first half of this match. Let’s hope the boys do better when they host Alcalá next week.
