Just as delightful as signing new players is the news that the club has managed to hang on to all the players Diego Simeone is counting on.
Earlier today, Juanfran told This is Atleti host Ricardo Menéndez that Atlético’s best signing of the summer was holding on to Adrián, who was on the verge of leaving the club on the final day of the transfer window.
There is more good news for Atlético Madrid fans, because on Tuesday the club also announced that Koke, Javi Manquillo, and Óliver Torres have all signed contract extensions.
The three canteranos have signed deals that will keep them at the club until 2018.
The fantastic news is further proof of the success of Atlético’s youth system. Manquillo and Óliver were permanently promoted to the first team this summer, while Koke continues to improve on a weekly basis, and has earned himself another call up to the Spanish national team. His younger teammates form part of La Roja’s U21 team, to which Manquillo was added yesterday to replace Real Madrid’s Derik.
