Alderweireld arrives in Madrid

The Belgian defender from Ajax is set to ink 4-year deal for Atlético

Griezmann could become second Atleti player ever to make the podium

Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld arrived at Barajas airport on Saturday morning, as little seems to be in the way of completing a transfer to Atlético Madrid.

Our good friend Dani Hidalgo reports that the 24-year-old arrived with his father and two agents, and were welcomed by a representative of the club.

Alderweireld is expected to sign a 4-year deal at Atlético, where he’ll replace the Manchester City-bound Martín Demichelis.

When asked about his transfer, the centre back said it was an easy decision to make.

“When a club like Atlético calls, you don’t think twice.”

Curiously, he said he wasn’t aware of the Rojiblancos’ interest until he received a text message from a fellow Belgian international.

“I knew nothing until Courtois texted me and told me to join.”

We’ll keep you updated as the deal is expected to be made official shortly.

Perfect signing and Courtois will help him settle in. He will start fighting for a first 11 place.

It will be so awesome if we can lure Courtois next season on a permanent deal.. This guy has done so much for us.. Love him…

Making Courtois happy means everything! If we’ll only sign Courtois next summer, I’ll be happy!
