Rubén Pérez loaned out, Pulido joins Real Madrid

Rubén Peréz heads for promoted Elche, while Pulido moves down to Segunda División

Jorge Pulido in Baku

Pulido (clubatleticodemadrid.com)

Atlético have agreed to loan out midfielder Rubén Pérez to newly promoted Elche for next season. This will be the fourth consecutive year out on loan for the 24-year-old canterano.

Rubén Pérez previously spent time at Deportivo, Getafe and Betis. He made his single first-team appearance for Atlético as a substitute against Getafe in 2010.

After 14 years, defender Jorge Pulido has left Atlético for their archrival’s reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla, who play in the Segunda División.

The 22-year-old canterano failed to make his mark during his time with the Rojiblancos. After his debut against Universidad de Las Palmas in 2010, he accumulated only eleven more appearances in three years.

Pulido was left out of match day squads for much of the past campaign, but he did play in Atlético’s ultimate game of the season, a victory at Zaragoza.

  • Doesn’t seem like Perez is growing in status, being loaned to this level of club, but he’s probably guaranteed of minutes in La Liga.
    When does his contract end?

I understand Pulido wanted to leave, I understand so very well.
Cata Diaz was somehow ahead of him and who know what’ll happen to him at Real, but it’s certain that playing at least Segunda is better than not even being considered.

  • Dircil

well, it seems that our hope for the transfer of Diego will never come true
    http://www.marca.com/2013/07/18/en/football/spanish_football/1374162218.html

  • Atletico- palestine

I dont understand why??? We dont have money no way!! We just offered cazorla 17M euro and capoue 7M euro… I cant understand why it gets so complicated each transfer window in case of diego!! As long as he wants to come and atleti want to buy!

  • Even though Diego was and probably would be great for us, we shouldn’t be so obsessed with his signing.
We, fans, are acting as if he is the only person in the world capable of lifting Atletico to a higher level.
There are multiple possible formations, tactics in which other players would be at least just as useful as he would be.
Oliver shown numerous times there is a chance he is ready to step it up, Arda and Koke are able to play terrificly as a ’10’. It’s just, outside of Oliver, those players are needed more in other positions. So, maybe it would be even better to shift attention to get a player that might be just as good as Diego and perhaps even give the team more variety in its possibilities going forward.
Like I mentioned before, a creative right winger, perhaps, could be useful. That way it’s easier to implement a 4-2-2-2 tactic, with Costa and Villa up front, backed up by Adrian and Leo. Pizzi, Arda, a possible new signing, Cebolla, Raul, Arejo could focus on the winger positions while Koke would finally get the chance to focus way more on CM where he might be Gabi’s best partner with his vision, positioning and aggressive and energetic approach.
Perhaps Diego would still prove to be the best option, but please, guys, don’t act as if he is our sole possible mesias.

  • Ahmad Hossainy

until now, those are the players who have left the club:
    Joel >> Everton
    Silvio >> Benfica (loan)
    Pedro Martin >> Numancia (loan)
    Cata Diaz >> Boca
    Rubén Pérez >> Elche (loan)
    Thomas Partney >> Mallorca (loan)
    Pulido >> Real Madrid Castilla

and those are expected to leave also :
    Cisma, Borja, Cabrera and Pizzi
and maybe Saul (probably to Rayo on loan)

  • Why is Pizzi expected to leave?
Didn’t they pay like 13 million for him?

  • kris

Pizzi isn’t gonna leave. He is gonna be playing next season at Atleti.

  • JimboWithTheDancingShoes

How do you know that @kris? Almost every sign says that he is going to be loaned out.

  • kris

I don’t know.. I just know.. like if we don’t sign a winger, then he is our only option.. so, my heart believes he won’t be loaned unless we buy another winger. He was really good for Deportivo, and I think he can do good for Atleti, too. But, you may be right. It’s for sure though, if we buy another winger, then he’s sure to be loaned out, but if not, there’s a high chance of him staying.

  • kris

I mean,,, he would be a really good substitute, and he’ll add depth to the bench. 23 players.. let’s see if he fits in.

  • kris

We should put a 400 million buy-out clause for Diego Costa and a 500 million buy-out clause for Oliver. Jese, now, has a buy-out clause of 200 million. This is how you keep your players. Cerezo, learn something, please.

  • Alex21

    I’m so with you Kris!!

  • Dircil

    have a look at this
    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/transfer-news-manchester-city-make-30m-bid-for-benfica-star-eduardo-salvio-8718645.html

when Atletico sold this guy to Benfica for €11 million, I was like” How can an amazing guy be sold at a crappy price?”. Now, Mcity has made a bid of € 30m for this guy. I’m sure we havent done a good business in the case of Salvio. Sold Salvio for €11m and bought Pizzi for 13m, well, bad business. Pizzi is surely worse than Salvio!!!!

  • Silchas

Salvio was talented, but very unconstant and we got 14Mio for him. 11 Mio for sale + 3mio for loan and 20% of his transferrights two years ago.

  • Salvio was sold because of the money.
He was inconsistent because Quique sucks and that kind of scarred his stay with Atleti, so when he returned, he needed to feel more faith, but that took a while. When he finally got the hang of it, they sold him.

    Money rules everything.
Although if it didn’t he’d stay with Benfica the first time around.
Great kid, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Easily prefer him over Pizzi, doesn’t help it’s a right winger we need, too.

  • Ian

I always liked salvio, he wasn’t given enough chance. I’m pretty sure if he played under simeone at that time, he could be amazing for us.

  • Ahmad Hossainy

you are forgetting an important thing guys,
before 2012-13 season started we had 4 players who didn’t have a European passport:
Falcao, Miranda, Diego Costa & Salvio
so one of them had to leave, and the choice was between the last two, and Simeone made the right decision by keeping Costa

on the other hand, the fact that Man City are offering 30 M for him does not mean at all that he worth that amount of money
let’s never forget that among the Petrodollar clubs, City are the worst on making deals
remember Robinho, Balotelli, Tevez, de Jong, Maicon and many others ?!

even players like Aguero and Lescott I count them as bad deals if we compared their prices to what they gave the club

in fact Sheikh Mansour does not care, he just spend (with his brothers & cousins) a couple of billions of dollars to help taking down the elected president of my country, Egypt to make sure that the Arab spring does not reach their country and take all the billions they have been steeling from their people in the last 50 years (when they found the oil)

so even if this news is true .. so what, the luck just chose Benfica this time to cash some money from this idiot !

  • starvs

Very good point Ahmad, Salvio was the best to leave over Miranda and Diego Costa (Falcao obviously way way beyond consideration there).

Gotta disagree on Kun though, he helped them win the league, that is worth the money right there.

  • Ahmad Hossainy

read that yesterday in Mundo Atletico :

“Al Cholo La Falta Uno (Cholo Lacks One),
The club is working on signing a central midfielder and will close the squad on 23 playes”

So those are the 23 :
Courtois & Asenjo (could inter a swap deal with Andres Fernandez)
    Juanfran, Manquillo
    Demichelis, Miranda, Godin, Giménez
    Filipe, Insua
Gabi, Mario, Tiago (+new signing, maybe Capoue)
Arda, Koke, Raul Garcia, Cebolla, Oliver
    Villa, Diego Costa, Adrian

Those are 22, so Saul will leave
probably to Rayo on loan which I think is a very good move for the kid

and one of Leo & Pizzi will leave also
all the reports suggest that it’s Pizzi
but what I don’t understand is why we buy a player for 13 M and then send him on loan for 2 seasons in a row !

But anyway : this is a great team, and much more stronger than the team we had last season

  • Ian

I think we should’ve loaned out salvio, he’s a good player with potential….
    But it’s already done now..

  • JohnGreece

Leo will probably not be loaned..he is very talented,he can provide many options in the attacking line.On the other hand, raul garcia should go,he is not good enough for us and we should buy a player more creative and with greater technique instead, who can organise the attacking movement. Also we need a central midfielder who will do pretty much the job as Gabi does, but stronger and more capable defencively. Those are the players (if they are good choices) that give a team a chance to raise level,to compete with the very best.

  • Vlad

Pizzi was great last year. Maybe we should loan out Leo and give Pizzi a chance to back up Villa and Costa

  • Silchas

Maybe we should keep Pizzi and sell Cebolla. I think if one player is to weak for Atleti then Cebolla is the one not Raul Garcia. RG can score goals and makes assists. Two aspects in which Cebolla wasn’t convincing last season, but thats my opinion.

  • I don’t see why Koke isn’t considered that central midfielder.

Buy or loan an extra offensive option and you’re done for this season.
Leo to be loaned out, with Adrian and Pizzi, Oliver, Arda and even Raul Garcia as extra options as extra striker or 10.
Raul, Arda, Pizzi, Cebolla, Koke, Oliver, Aquino, Adrian, Costa and Alejo are the options to play behind the striker(s), which shows most are strongest in central positions or on the left wing. Raul, Arda, Koke, Cebolla and Adrian played on the right his past season, while they’re better off as CAM, LM/CAM, CM, LM and ST, so with Alejo the only natural right winger, who has no experience on this level whatsoever, isn’t the most logical solution to get a right winger with the money left, at least someone to give an extra option since creativity sometimes proved to be the biggest issue of the season, going forward.

I know it looks like we need a more defensively capable CM, looking at the squad, but do we really? Gabi, Mario, Tiago and Koke all know how to retrieve the ball very well. Remember the goals conceded this season? That’s right, the least of La Liga, while we have Mr Blunder Godin as a central defender (though he is improved greatly the past season). Courtois even played numerous games where he didn’t have a lot to do, Barca was able to create the least chances against Atletico this season. If you want a central midfielder, he’ll come as 5th option. Plus, if Saul isn’t loaned out, that fifth option is there already.

So, I only think Simeone should go for a central midfielder if he plans to change the formation, but then again, if there’s a 3-man midfield, Oliver and Raul become options for those positions, as well.

  • Yeah, and with Pizzi you have a second left winger already, and Cebolla sucks on the right, so Raul for the center and right is way more useful at the moment.
But the Uruguayan works very, very hard, so that works in his favor, under Simeone.

  • Vlad

    Agree with you there Ty..
Simeone love Cebolla for his passion.

In any case.. I’d like to see another good signing for next year..

  • kris

Honestly commenting, Cebolla and RAUL GARCIA are both useless for Atleti. I know they saved us in dying moments last season, but still I don’t think they are worthy of Atleti. We only spend 9 million this transfer window, we still have money left for a winger and a CAM. I am not worried about DM, Koke can do the job pretty well. Not worried about CAM either, because we have Oliver, but I think we should change the formation of tow DMs and just make one defensive mid. That way we have more creativity going forward and more goals. But this way, we would need a much better DM than Gabi, someone who can actually defend well. Maybe, Capoue? I don’t know, who. I don’t like Capoue that much, but I think he will do the job well. Saw about four matches of Tuoluose and looked like Capoue was their best player. ahha.

  • Vlad

Gabi?? I think Gabi is our strongest Midfielder (him and Koke).. if anyone should go it’s Tiago..

And yes, Capoue is a great great player

  • starvs

Fully agree, if we are talking about Cebolla and Raul Garcia as serious options to get meaningful minutes on this team, the squad is not where it needs to be yet. That is not the type of depth that sees you have success in three competitions…

  • JimboWithTheDancingShoes

Pizzi is in Lisabon at the moment so expect him to be loaned out.

  • starvs

If Pizzi is loaned out I cannot imagine another offensive (wing…) player not brought in, team just doesn’t have the depth to offload a solid player like that for nothing in return. But of course, given economic realities, nothing gonna shock me at this point (besides Santi…)

  • kris

I didn’t say though, Gabi should go. Tiago should leave too, along with Cebolla and Raul Garcia. It will be best if Tiago returns to Portugal, because he isn’t as good anymore and he won’t get any playing time, either. So, the three players need to leave for the best of themselves because they will hardly get any playing time.

  • kris

Looks like Saul to Rayo on loan for one year will be official in the next few hours. This is gonna be great for Saul and Atleti. Rayo is a good place to go to improve. Saul is already good but he will be even better after he gets more playing time. Diego Costa to Rayo, anyone? He improved a lot there and I think Saul will do the same too. Come on Saul.

  • kris

LOL Would you guys consider Gary Medel? ahha, I don’t think he would consider it, though.

  • Silchas

Tiago will go nowhere until 2014, he has renewed his contract and get less money as before plus he is a good and experienced Backup. He never complaint about his role in the squad and he identify himself with the club.

  • Mahmoud

    @kris

No way! Gabi is our captain, he understands Atleti just as Cholo does, and he was very important in Bucharest and in the Copa del Rey final at the Bernabeu.

  • Vlad

    Medel is a KILLER!!
I basicly hate Sevilla players but he is a true fighter!! Fit for Atleti

  • kris

Mahmoud, lol I said, he shouldn’t leave. I said Tiago should leave. He is a surplus right now, and I think he should give way for the youngsters. Exactly though, Vlad. ahha. LOL it’ll be awesome if he came to Atleti, after the Copa del Rey semis, ahha. do you think he would even CONSIDER us though? ahha.

  • Vlad

I truly belive we could be a great step for his career.. and I think Simeone can make a monster out of him!

  • Kulan

About Pizzi; Atleti doesn’t own à single percentage of him, Mendes does. And Atleti hasn’t paid à single euro for him. Those 13 millions was just Gestifute-numbers, so Atleti can’t decide where he will play next year..

  • Mahmoud

Ah yeah, duh, sorry I misunderstood haha, but I still think it’s better that Tiago stay one more year if we can’t sign a top-class defensive minded midfielder, especially if Saul is moving on loan. If we are going to play with two deep midfielders, we need cover for Gabi and Mario (assuming that Koke is going to play as an AM in a lot of games) and he always give his best for the team.

  • piserakos

guys… we are going to play 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1 what we need is a excellent right winger…. koke isn’t rw… he is cam and cm or even rm but not winger…. gomez is… but i would love santi(not for a lot of million but for 20-25 mill) santi arda on the wings costa villa front and koke gabi mid(mario as a back-up) oh god… that will be good:)… and sell at least one o cebolla or garcia, no pizzi he can be a good back-up… leo as a striker back-up.. loan saul… and we are ok

  • LosColchoneros

Try not to mix sport with politics. I am from a ‘Petrodollar’ nation.

  • kris

Ain’t nothing wrong with being from a Petrodollar nation, as long as you are not as corrupted as the billionaires from your Petrodollar nation. These Arabs are just spending crazy without thinking. It is not to offend you, though.

  • Ahmad Hossainy

    @LosColchoneros
I’m the one who mixed sport with politics, and I will NOT stop .. never

in fact sport and politics have been mixed (or let me say married) many years ago

if it’s not for politics so give one reason why Mansour bought a football club from Manchester and spending insanely on it?!
and don’t you dare to say “it’s business” because we both know it’s a lie .. since he bought that club he has been losing money, a huge amount of money
I can understand how some businessmen spend money on sports (football) clubs in their countries because they love them
it happens everywhere, it happens here in Egypt where some millionaires and billionaires donate money to some clubs simply because they love these clubs or they love these cities

but what does Mansour love about Manchester?! .. he does not know any thing about this city and he been there only a couple of times

so if it’s not business or love, then it’ politics

they are losing money, but they are getting influence, relationships, secret deals .. and for some of them, they just want to be famous !!

and all what I said about Mansour applies on Al-Khelaifi, Abramovich, Rybolovlev, Kerimov and the rest of the gang

my friend, while corrupted Arabs and Russians are losing money on football clubs, there are many (true) businessmen who made big fortune from football clubs and sporting clubs
    in general

my friend, while corrupted Arabs and Russians are throwing away the money they stole, millions of people in their countries are suffering .. and maybe you are one of them !

my friend, as Kris said: “nothing wrong with being from a Petrodollar nation as long as you are not corrupted as they are”

my friend, if you really a “Colchonero” then you should be mad too,
Man City took Aguero from us and Monaco took Falcao from us
they would never even dream of that if they didn’t have the Sheikh & the Oligarch

if you are a regular visitor to this website then you would know that it’s not just me, but even some of the writes are talking about politics when it comes to economical state and others political-related stuff

I will keep (mixing) sport with politics, and if you have a problem with that so you should either find another website
or just switch your support to a Petrodollar club !

  • piserakos

ahmad you must be from alexandria

  • kris

matchday, today, guys. Simeone said he’ll be playing all the players today. I don’t know where to watch it, guys. Do any of you have live links? It will be very helpful. thanks.

  • Jimbo_With_the_Dancingshoes

Dylanowy@ said it would ony be possible to HEAR it on http://www.marca.com/radio/ – he was right. we are leading 1-0 on a goal by costa I think Adrian providing the assist is what i can get out of it with my non existent spanish.

  • Jimbo_With_the_Dancingshoes

2-0 goal by Costa again I think

  • Ahmad Hossainy

@piserakos yes, I’m from Alexandria .. how did you know?!!

  • kris

Tres-Zero. Youngster Aquino scores. COME ON ATLETI!

  • kris

Thanks Jimbo. I would really have loved to watch our new team play, but.. I gues.. I will take the lovely Spanish commentary.

  • kris

Goal for Numacia. Now it’s 3-1.

  • EC

    Is Villla playing?

  • JimboWithTheDancingShoes

@EC no he, Godin, Cebolla, Oliver Torres, Manqillo wont travel with the team to south america.

    End: 2-4
    Costa
    Costa
    Aquino
    -Palanca
    Leo
    -Palanca (penalty)

  • kris

good result despite a very young and inexperienced team in the 2nd half. Would have loved to see Leo play, but unlcky for me. I hope I get to watch some fan-cam highlights on Youtube. Guys, if any of you find it, please do provide it here.

  • Silchas

according to marca Pizzi is in Lissabon to sign a five year contract with benfica. So we can olny assume if we get any money from this deal. But this i highly doubt it.

  • piserakos

@ahmad.. i’m from greece, neighbour. you see mostly at alexandria there are people with knowledge and political ideas(sorry about my english) you see i have visit egypt,(cairo and alexandria mostly) and i my grandpa borned there

  • kris

Here you go guys the highlights of yesterday’s game. Leo with a wonderful header, and Aquino with a beautiful free kick goal.
    http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/telediario/atletico-empieza-pretemporada-goleada/1951674/

  • Alex21

That free kick is so dirty!!

  • Ahmad Hossainy

Thank you very much Kris for the video, I have been searching for one all the last night and for many hours this morning, in the club website, in MARCA, AS and other newspapers, in twitter, youtube .. but I found nothing
and that’s why I love this website, and that’s why I love you all

@piserakos I knew you are Greek since I saw your name, either it’s your real name or not but it’s very obvious it’s a Greek name, it ends with (os) !

I believe Alexandria is the greatest city in Egypt, the most beautiful and the coolest one
most of Egypt’s remarkable people are from it, politicians, scientists, artists, sports champions and religious figures, both Muslims & Christians
even the Pope of Orthodox Christian Egyptians is called
“The Pope of Alexandria” .. and yet his seat is in Cairo !!

and yes we used to have a lot of Greek here (among many other nationalities) and that’s why it used to be called a cosmopolitan city, just like New York
and it still have many foreign people especially from Greece but not as much as before,

I know some Greeks here, in fact one of my professors at college was half Greek half Egyptian, and he was a genius 🙂

  • kris

Right, tho, Alex?? Aquino seems like a beast. We shouldn’t let go of our gems so easily anymore.Man,I would build a team around Oliver, with all the youngsters. Damn. If we are able to hold on to all our young players in the future, we will have a great team ready even for the future.

  • Alex21

Kris, thanks for the game upload. I as well have been searching for some good time for a highlight reel. I totally agree that forming a team around our youngsters is the cheapest, easiest, and most genius way of becoming even greater. I can’t stand clubs that buy buy buy. I respect teams who utilize their own products, and I’d love to see Atleti be one of the top youth factories.

I have a really good feeling about this season, even without Falcao. I think Costa will hit around 20 or so goals in all competitions, same with Villa. Leo will produce anywhere from 6-10 and have at least 5 assists. Adrian will have a good year on wing, and Arda will be his normal reliable self. Oliver will play only several games in the first half of the season, but will come out really really strong in the spring. Defense will be solid like last year especially since Cata can’t come in and ruin anything. Courtois will once again prove himself as one of the world’s elite keepers. Koke will be in tremendous form all year and some rich club will buy him after the year, i hope I’m wrong though. Looking forward to the Barcelona standoff. Sevilla will be easy.

  • piserakos

@ahmad. no it’s not my real name…:P it’s thanos(yes it finish with ‘os’). and i’m sure you know that alexandria was a great city at ancient ages. Great Alexander made this city and this wonderfull library

  • kris

Alex, I think Koke will turn out to be very important next season, but I still want two more “genius” signings to add depth to the team.

  • Atleetiii

In Danish newspapers is the Danish national player William Kvist linked to atletico.. He is just an ok cm player, but I think he just will be choose number 3 or 4 on the central midfield. But he’s cheap, they saids he cost about 2-4 mil. Euros.

  • Alex21

Kris, i completely agree he will be vital to Atleti. I think his stock will increase significantly which other clubs will try to lure him away. I hope they don’t, but i have no doubt he won’t perform as one if not the best for us this season.

And yes, I’d love two more signings. Gomez and ljajic would be the ultimate. Cazorla works too. We need another big name added to the roster.
