Diego Forlán and Álvaro Domínguez joined their teammates today for a two hour training session. The duo had missed our friendly against Real Mallorca yesterday due to minor injuries.
The players that started in our 3-2 loss either had a recuperative session with Miguel Peiró or worked out in the gym.
The group with which Quique Sánchez Flores got to work today was smaller than usual; three players have been moved back to Atlético B.
Keko, Ibrahima and Paco Regalón hoped to stay with the first team this season but will now join Antonio Rivas’ selection while the club figures out what to do with them.
Our young winger Keko, who impressed in the recent European Tournament U19 for Spain, will go on loan. But it’s unclear whether he’ll find a club in the Primera or Segunda División in Spain.
Ibrahima Baldé, our Senegalese forward, is on the verge of joining Recreativo, although apparently the striker hasn’t yet decided if he wants to move to Huelva.
Paco Regalón was one of Atlético B’s best centre backs in recent seasons, but the defender has outgrown the level of the Segunda B. His feature remains unclear, although I think it’s not impossible he will decide to stay with Atlético B this season.
In these final weeks of preparation Sánchez Flores is trimming down the squad, with Juanito soon to leave on a free transfer. The coach currently has 26 players available (including Asenjo and Borja), but hopes to welcome Tiago in the coming days. Only 25 players can be registered for la Liga matches.
