Atlético boss Diego Simeone unveiled his squad list for Saturday’s friendly against recently promoted-side Deportivo de La Coruña.

The 67th edition of the Depor-hosted Trofeo Teresa Herrera kicks off at the Riazor Stadium at 21:00 CET.

The clash will be Atleti’s final preparation game ahead of the start of La Liga action in Levante on the 19th of August.

Los Rojiblancos will be aiming for their seventh ‘Tower of Hercules’ – the Terresa Herrera trophy’s design is a replica of the ancient Roman lighthouse located in Coruña – as the club currently have six on display at their museum inside the Vicente Calderón.

Diego Costa, and Atlético B-members Kader and Saúl, will not be making the trip into Galician territory as they are all nursing minor injuries.

Atleti’s 22-man squad:
Goalkeepers: Asenjo, Courtois, Joel
Defenders: Juanfran, Sílvio, Filipe, Miranda, Cata, Pulido, Godín
Midfielders: Tiago, Mario, Gabi, Arda, Emre, Raúl García, Koke, Óliver, ‘Cebolla’ Rodríguez
Forwards: Borja, Adrián, Falcao

What starting XI would you like Cholo to roll out on Saturday?

  • Ringo

Pulido’s going nowhere, another Silvio or CB injury and no back-replacements. Besides Manquillo and Kader perhaps.

  • What is pulido and Joel doing there?

  • Javi Lozoya

He is pretty good. He helped South Korea to win the bronze medal. Too bad there’s no money.

  • Shalak

AS: Diego Costa travels to Besiktas, and Ricardo Quaresma will be ready for Atletico Madrid. Bruno Alves should also be ready for € 6 million.

  • Javi Lozoya

Hope that’s not true. Quaresma is another Reyes. They’re both very skilled players but also very individualistic not to mention they’re both quick tempered. And as for Bruno Alves, I hope it doesn’t happen either. I don’t want Godin to leave.
Mendes is at it again. I’m getting tired of him. He has turned Atleti into his own company. Someone should report him. Guys like him are not helping football but only making profit for themselves at the expense of clubs like Atleti. What a douche.

  • ali_

i remember we tried to sign quaresma in 2007 or 2008, but he went to inter in 2008. he is a shit since then. hope he wont come.

  • kabir

what was that crazy story with julio alves (bruno’s brother) last summer? I never understood that

  • ali_

    it was money laundering. 🙂

  • Ratchet

this will be a good chance to see how we are set for the upcoming season. I really hope we win this…

  • I will love to have Bruno Alvez he is good and he wil be great with atletico but Quaresma i dont even want to hear his name..
Diego costa is wanted by Malaga on loan. Do you think we should let him go there

  • Dircil

@Amed9ja: Quaresma is a very skillful player with magic foots, I’d like to say I want to see him in our squad

  • leika

Fabian and Peralta are pretty dope! If we had the money they are certainly the ones to think about signing, but lets focus on our own youth.

  • DJ_ZA

off topic – Well done Mexico – Olympic Champions 2012

When’s prediction league 2012/13 up and running?

  • Ratchet

yh, mexico were awesome, so glad they won, i dont really like some of brazil’s players, but mexico definately deserved it

  • Javi Lozoya

Hell yeah!, México gold medal champions!, take that Brazil!.
Peralta is certainly good but he is 29, but Fabián certainly would be a good signing except he doesn’t have an EU passport and there’s no money.
The Mexican defense was pretty good too. They contained Neymar, Damiao and Hulk. Not an easy task. Reyes a Mexican defender was linked to Atleti before. He is just 19.

  • Paco

    Link for the match????

  • mamase

No patient to watch this game.. where i can watch the game on TV livestream?

  • ali_

there will be a link here hopefully

  • Imran

    Thank you very much 🙂

  • Shlomgar

Worst penalty kick of the year! And it’s only August…

  • I am proud of my country who won a 1st gold medal in Javelin and 3 Bronze in other stuff so Are you all proud of your COUNTRIES??

  • im worried. im really, really worried. Deportivo is a side we need to be beating in our sleep to get CL, which is absolutely vital, get judging by tonight we would scrape a draw. We need all 3 points from these matches. There is a hell of a lot of work needed to be done before levante in little over a weeks time. I hope im wrong, but to me it looks like we’re headed for a dodgy start. I think we are in some trouble here, its been a mixed pre-season, and a poor start cost us very dearly last season. I just hope that we turn it around, or its gonna be another uneasy season…

  • @ Randy German, yep, 28 golds is brilliant for us, im so proud of ny nation, for staging an excellant olympic games and performing so well in them, i will miss this olympics sorely when it ends, good thing the season and the US Open isnt too far away 🙂

  • @Ratchet
Yes if we can’t beat Deportivo in our sleep that means Levante will be a lot harder for us because Levante got into the Europa League and Deportivo will hope to avoid relegation this season so that goes to show if we can’t beat a relegation-threatened team, then we can forget about CL football the following season.

  • Alex

My nation of America is killing it. London has hosted it very well. Too bad NBC has done a terrible job of broadcasting. Very proud of our American girls team.

  • Mahmoud

Not necessarily Randy, remember that last season even Real Madrid couldn’t win at the grounds of Villarreal or Racing Santander (both of whom were relegated) but they beat almost every other team away from home.

One off results don’t mean very much, especially in pre-season, although I am a bit concerned that our defence is not gonna be as solid this season as it was at the start of Simeone’s reign.

  • DJ_ZA

    @ RandyG

Olympics has been great …. some disappointments, but have been proud of our athletes.

Chad le Clos beating Michael Phelps and Cameron van der Burgh getting the World Record were highlights but the most inspiring is our Blade Runner, Oscar Pistorius ….. hopefully Atleti can match his fighting spirit this season 🙂
