After securing an eight-game sponsorship deal with Rixos Hotels last week, Atlético today announced they have found a shirt sponsor for the ‘Derbi Madrileño’.

The hotel chain signed an agreement for eight of our nine remaining league games, but Atleti management had already reserved a spot on the front of our kit for Huawei during our game against Real Madrid.

Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications firm, will be officially presented as Atlético’s partner during a press conference on Monday, two days ahead of the derby.

Fans that were getting used to our retro look, do not despair. In our Europa League campaign, which will hopefully last beyond Thursday’s match against Hannover, we will continue to don the red and white without an ad plastered on our chests.

Man, I cannot believe my eye. I was writing a news article about Huawei getting banned from tendering for Australia’s National Broadband Project yesterday, and now I got this news~what a coincidence!

We are really really making an effort in marketing the club in China with those noon-matches and now this sponsor. And also in Turkey, with that turkish hotel sponsor, Arda Turan and also the possibility/rumours about signing Emre Belozoglu!

Will Huawei also be our sponsor for the entire next season?

We’ll find out on Monday, Palc. So far it seems to be just for the derby

The red colors could fit the kit.
