Atlético’s short-lived retro look of having no major sponsor on the front of their kits has come to an end as the club have announced that an agreement with the Turkish-based Rixos Hotels Group has been reached.
The international five-star hotel chain’s logo will appear on Atleti jerseys for eight of our last nine La Liga matches, debuting on Sunday when we take on Getafe at the Vicente Calderón.
No reason was given for why we will not be sporting the new logo when we host Real Madrid on the 11th of April, the only league game not included in the sponsorship deal.
The following overview of the hotel ownership and management group is included on Atlético’s web site:
Rixos Group has experienced significant growth in recent years as a direct result of its flexible and proactive dynamic and strategic management. The hotel chain, which has garnered international awards on numerous occasions such as the ‘World Travel Award’ or the ‘Best Hotel Spa in the World’ award, places its hotels in coveted destinations such as Dubai, Croatia, Russian republics and Turkey.
