For the fourth time in five matches, Atlético Madrid B played out a goalless draw.
At the Cerro del Espino the young Rojiblancos were unable to score against CD Toledo.
It was the B-team’s fifth consecutive match that ended undecided, and we have now collected a total of 11 draws.
Milinko Pantic has created a well-organised unit with a strong defence but, obviously, his team is lacking in the final third. Although on Sunday all Atlético B lacked was a bit of fortune and a finishing touch.
Early on, goalkeeper Saavedra prevented Pedro and Saúl from scoring and Atleti were unfortunate that the referee missed a clear handball by a Toledo player in the eighth minute. Shortly before the break Sergio Marcos enabled Pedro to score, but a defender saved the ball off the goal line.
In the second half a powerful shot by Regalón smashed against the post and later on Cantero headed against the crossbar.
The visitors then got the chance to snatch an undeserved victory from under our noses, but as always Iago was on his guard.
The match finished without any goals and Atleti are now without a home win since October, while the playoff spots for promotion continue to slip away. Next week we travel to Galicia to take on Celta B.
Line-up: Iago; Regalón, César Ortiz, Míchel, Cantero; Fer, Sergio Marcos (“87 Cidoncha); Omar (“80 N’Doye), Noguera (“70 Gerard), Saúl; and Pedro.
