Pre-season friendly: Thai All Stars 0 – 3 Atlético

We win our third friendly match with goals by Salvio, Domínguez and Simão

Salvio scores against the Thai All Stars

Without too much trouble Atlético won their third friendly of pre-season today. We took on a team with the best players from the Thai league, but they weren’t able to compete with Quique Sánchez Flores’ men.

The absence of Sergio Agüero and Diego Forlán meant that Atleti played a 4-2-3-1 formation with Jurado behind Diego Costa. However it was the two wide players who combined to provided the first goal.

Fran Mérida, one of the best on the pitch today, sent Salvio through on goal after fifteen minutes, and the Argentine slotted it past the All Star goalie.

Ten minutes later Álvaro Domínguez doubled the score, when he volleyed in a header by Camacho.

The Thai All Stars hardly threathened our goal, but came close to scoring after Quique had substituted five players at half time. The ball was in the back of the net, but was ruled out due to a foul on De Gea.

Our young goalkeeper had to be substituted after 55 minutes when he picked up a slight knock, and was replaced by Joel. Five minutes later Jurado had to go off as well, suffering from heatstroke, and was replaced by Simão.

It was the Portuguese sub who scored the final goal of the day, as the match finished 3-0 in front of 30,000 spectators.

Filipe made his Atlético Madrid debut, coming off the bench in the 73rd minute.

Atlético: De Gea; Ujfalusi, Perea, Domínguez, Antonio López; Raúl García, Ignacio Camacho; Eduardo Salvio, José Manuel Jurado, Fran Mérida; Diego Costa
Subs: Juan Valera, Juanito, Paulo Assunção, Mario Suárez, Alberto Perea; Joel, Simão, Filipe

Goals: 0-1, Salvio; 0-2, Domínguez, 0-3, Simão

Camacho has been starting every game so far and he’s connected to multiple goals already!

It doesn’t mean anything so far, but the chance he’ll become a starter grows!

Álvaro’s goal was fantastic! A really deep corner from Merida, hooked back and a great volley. Salvio’s was great too!

The attack for the first goal was truly awesome!
Pretty quick movements. I can see, however, that Godín (and Fanni) would be really useful.

Great header by Camacho for the assist on Álvaro’s terrific finish.

It seemed that one player of the Thai side was really great in the final pass, was it that number 7? He seemed to have some nice vision, as well!
