The first team might have finished 2011 in poor fashion, at least Atlético Alevín ended the year with a spectacular achievement.

The team won the 16th edition of the Torneo Internacional Alevín, held in Arona (Tenerife).

The tournament for players under 12 years has a high reputation in Spain and is broadcasted live on national television. Even Vicente del Bosque attended.

All major Spanish clubs participated as well as Dortmund, PSG and Inter.

On their way to the final, the Atleti boys beat Barcelona (3-2) and Dortmund (4-0), and tied with Valencia (0-0).

In the quarter final Mallorca was beaten on penalties after a goalless draw. The semi final was a thrilling derby against Real Madrid, who had won all prior games, but were no match for Atleti (2-1).

In the final on Thursday we beat Villarreal 2-1. The complete game can be streamed on Cuatro’s website.

The players that most catch the eye on Atleti’s side are brothers Fede and Salomon Obama, one a commanding defender and the other an unstoppable striker.

The title of best player and best goalkeeper of the tournament went to Villarreal duo Yassine and Iñaki.

The Atlético players that featured in the final: Álex, Sergio, Mario, Del Valle, Fede Obama, Álvaro, Salomón Obama and Cristian, Aitor and Alba.

Congratulations to this kids!, it’s really an amazing and outstanding achievement, they defeated important team as Barcelona, Madrid, Dortmund, Villarreal among others, I really wish for all these kids to become professional footballers if they really want it, but they’re still kids and shouldn’t be rushed or anything by their parents or scouts or anybody, they are promising but they must enjoy their childhood without any pressures.
    Great job Atletico Alevin!.
