After two consecutive 1-1 draws, Atlético B returned to its winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Sporting Gijón B.
The young Rojiblancos took a two goal lead, but escaped with a narrow win after the Asturians had fought back.
In the end, a header in the 79th minute by left back Javi Cantero decided the match.
In a spectacular first half, Atlético took the lead when Gerardo Oliva made the most of a mix up between Sporting players Moisés and Raúl.
Moments later, he doubled our lead. This time Collado crossed the ball in from the right and Gerard headed in his second of the day.
But Sporting responded quickly and got one back through Guerrero, who beat the offside trap and slotted the ball past Iago.
In the second half the goalkeeper first made a strong save against Guerrero, but then made a costly error which enabled Mendy to score the equaliser.
Despite chances for Gerard on one end and Moisés on the other, the match seemed destined to finish in a draw, especially after N’Doye was denied a penalty.
But ten minutes before the end, Vicente delivered a free kick onto the head of Javi Cantero at the near post. The left back headed the ball into the back of the net to score his second of the season and hand Atleti a victory that seemed to have slipped away.
Atlético B have collected eight points from the last four matches and climb up to the eighth position on the table. Next week Pantic’s men travel to UB Conquense.
